We waited an eternity for a 2nd Wintersun album and when it's finally delivered, it turns out to be rather incomplete.
Due to record label directives, this album has been split into 2 parts.
This one really only has 3 proper songs, with two into's.
That said this album is of epic proportions, but at less that 44 minutes long, it really feels too short and lacking that particular something.
'When Time Fades Away' is a stunning into, with Japanese influences, it so beautiful, yet full of sorrow.
The main song here is 'Sons Of Winter and Stars' that is my favourite Wintersun track. Split into 4 parts this has everything thrown in and is epic.
The rest of the album is just as good, but as already stated it's just not enough after nearly 8 years of waiting for a new release.
As of September 2016 there is still no sign of Part II or anything new from Wintersun, with somewhat of a dispute between Nuclear Blast and mainman Jari Mäenpää.
Apparently Jari and band have a lot of killer material already done and dusted, just waiting for label permissions (crowd funding) to release it.
