Original, eclectic, brimming with ideas and very, very dark, this is in many ways, the album I've been waiting for for many years. It could be argued that all the primary and secondary genres of music have already been discovered, and all that's left is for us to do is combine them and explore the resultant shades and their nuances. This album is not only a great example of that, but also proof that a hell of a lot can still be acieved with this as your philospohy.
Like Liturgy's 'Ark Work' two years ago, 'Devil is Fine' proves that intensity and heaviness don't always have to be expressed simply by blasbeats and barked vocals. Indeed, using them sparingly and carefully can lead to a far more haunting experience.
