The rabble rousers from down under, AC/DC were formed in 1973 by Glasgow-born, Australian-raised brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. There are many myths about where the band got the name AC/DC, with some alluding to the fact that AC/DC was commonly used slang for bisexuality. Other theories had it connected to devil worship. The truth? The truth is so much more rock’n’roll than sex or Satan – the name AC/DC was taken from a sewing machine. The plug-in instructions in Malcolm and Angus Young’s sisters sewing machine inspired them to want a sound that was equally as electric, jolting and full of raw power.
