Sabaton: Every die-hard heavy metal fan is sure to be familiar with this Swedish band from Falun. The hard guitar riffs and the keyboard tracks are nothing exceptional for a heavy metal band. But together with the rough voice of lead singer Joakim BrodΓ©n and the war theme in their songs, they have generated a large fan following.
Sabaton have made it clear that they are by no means glorifying war with their music, but rather telling history in their songs. The band also rejects their assignment to the Power Metal genre. Nonetheless, Sabaton know how to get carried away with their music. Hardly anyone can keep their feet still when the Swedes really turn it up.
👀 Did you know that a "Sabaton" is an iron shoe that was part of a knight's armour in the Middle Ages? 👀
Experience the Art of War with Sabaton!
Sabaton's songs address the First and Second World Wars, but also conflicts in Swedish history and military history in general. The song "The Final Solution" deals with the history of anti-Semitism and the Holocaust in the Third Reich. Heroes on both the Allied and German sides are celebrated on the album "Heroes". But as a true fan you probably knew that of course.
True fans will also know titles like "Into The Fire", "Nuclear Attack", "Thunderstorm", "Cliffs Of Gallipoli", "Shiroyama" and "Fields Of Verdun". But do you also know which of the Sabaton albums these songs feature on? Take a look around our online shop - maybe you will discover that you don't yet own all the albums from this outstanding band! 👀 Did you know that the song "Metal Ripper" is a song in honour of some great metal and rock bands? The lyrics consist of text fragments from songs by Judas Priest β‘ AC / DC β‘ Black Sabbath β‘ Metallica β‘ Iron Maiden β‘ Queen β‘ Deep Purple and Ozzy Osbourne β‘ among others. 👀
Vinyl or CD - Choose your gear for battle
Are you wondering why anyone would want to buy a physical album these days in the age of cloud-based music streaming services like Spotify. Oh there are so many reasons. Quite simply: Many album covers - especially those from most metal bands - are visually stunning. A lot of heart and soul is poured into them and the small pixelated icon in the corner of your mobile phone screen does not do the art justice. Sabaton albums in particular take on the war theme of their songs and bring an intense expression into their artwork.
Then there's the fact that unless you opt for something like Apple HD, cloud-based music streaming services mostly serve up compressed music files. That's not the way to listen to heavy metal music. Physical sound carriers use full-sized audio files meaning you get full-sized sound. And then there's the fact that you can't pass your Spotify subscription onto your grand-children. But you can share you extensive music collection with them, because if treated carefully CDs will still play in 100 years time. Pay the music forwards and teach younger generations about the bands that you love.
