In 2016, the streaming service Netflix landed a huge hit series: "Stranger Things" is about a group of young teenagers who are looking for their missing friend and not only come across the mysterious girl Eleven, but also supernatural happenings around their city. Popular not only with lovers of fantasy, mystery and science fiction, the concept mostly impresses thanks to great film references, creepy monsters and the scope of action that took place in the 1980s. And now the impressively large fan base can’t get enough of the adventures of the serial gang. The EMP online shop offers great Stranger Things fan products to sweeten your time waiting for the next adventure. So, what are you waiting for? Follow us to the upside down!
Season 1 - How it all started
November 6, 1983, Hawkins, Indiana: Will Byers, a 12-year-old boy, disappears without a trace on the way home. Greatly concerned, Will's friends - Mike, Dustin, and Lukas - decide to get to the bottom of the matter and solve the case. During their search, they come across a girl in a wooded area wearing a hospital gown and with a shaved head. As if that wasn't mysterious enough, she also has an “11” tattooed on her arm. It soon turns out that Eleven has psychokinetic powers and also knows what happened to Will: he is fleeing a faceless monster, caled the Demogorgon.
Police chief Jim Hopper is also involved in the ominous events and Brenner, owner of the Hawkins National Laboratory, is suspected of being connected with Will’s disappearance. By chance, Nancy, (Mike's sister), and Jonathan, (Will's brother), discover a portal into the ominous “shadow world”. Through the portal, Will's mother and policeman Jim Hopper finally find Will, who, to everyone's surprise, is still alive. In keeping with season 1, you will of course find exclusive “Stranger-Things” merchandise at EMP, be it figures, kitchen accessories or home accessories - with the unusual fan products available here you can bring your series heroes to your home.
Fan facts
- Did you know that in the first season of "Stranger Things" 906 boys and 307 girls took part in the casting for the lead roles?
- During the season 1 shoot, actress Millie Brown (Eleven) appeared on set covered from head to toe in glitter. Where the glitter came from is still as mysterious as the series itself.
- It was Stephen King himself, who suggested Millie Brown for the role of Eleven. The master of horror had seen the BBC series "Intruders", in which Brown was already impressing audiences with her acting skills.
Season 2 - monsters, human trials and the shadow world
A year has passed since Will returned from the shadow world. He suffers from hallucinations and is repeatedly haunted by visions of a tentacle monster. Meanwhile, Nancy and Jonathan try to find out what happened to one of their best friends. Her search leads her to a laboratory complex, which also has access to the shadow world, but which is kept secret from the public eye.
Eleven also makes new discoveries: she finds out that she is the result of illegal human trials that were carried out in the Hawkins Laboratory. Unconsciously, and possessed by the monster from the other world, Will helps open a portal to the shadow world and a horde of Demorgogons breaks out. Together, Will and his friends, thanks mainly to Eleven's psychokinetic skills, manage to close the portal again. How long will peace last?
EMP also has a lot of Season 2 “Stranger Things” fan merchandise that you can use to immerse yourself in the world of the Upside Down - be it posters, books or accessories.
Fun facts about stranger things
- “Stranger Things” is based on ideas from various conspiracy theorists who assume that the United States government is doing experiments on children.
- Eleven and ET don't have much in common at first glance, do they? In an interview, the Duffer brothers revealed that Eleven does in fact correspond with this famous alien. Similar to ET, she communicates more through body language than words.
- Did you know that all the main characters from “Stranger Things” are friends in real life? They not only have a WhatsApp group chat called "Stranger Texts", but also like to go out together on Halloween.
Stranger Things Season 3 - The Mind Flayer Returns
In season three, Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max also face new dangers. The group of friends are targeted by a tentacled monster in particular, which Will has already met through his visions and which also came dangerously close to Hawkins Middle School in season 2. But it’s not just Eleven and Co. that are in great danger, the tentacled monster, (known as Mind Flayer), frees itself from the shadowy world with the order to destroy everything that stands in its way - it intends to cause proper chaos!
The Mind Flayer keeps communicating with Will through telepathy and reveals that it’s going to destroy the real world with an army of monsters from the shadow world. To implement this, the Mind Flayer only needs a human host. The choice falls to Max's older brother Billy. The adolescent with behavioural problems, who already shows a disturbingly aggressive side, seems to be an easy victim for the demonic monster from the shadows. Police Chief Hopper and Will's mother Joyce are also part of the group and, as always, are available to help and advise. Will the Mind Flayer manage to implement its destructive plans? Do Will and his friends manage to face the new danger? One thing is certain: the new season will be at least as exciting as the previous two!

The new villains and heroes from season 3
In the third season not only audience favourites like Eleven and Will can be seen, but new characters also celebrate their "Stranger Things" debut. One of them is Bruce, a journalist for the Hawkins Post, who has a pitch-black humor and questionable moral views. Bruce is portrayed by actor Jake Busey, best known for a cult film "The Frighteners" released in 1996. Does Bruce have good intentions or is he also causing trouble?
Mayor Larry Kline, played by Cary Elwes, is not exactly one of the most popular figures in season 3. The slick politician with a charismatic appearance seems to only be concerned with his own well-being above all else and not that of his citizens. Another new addition is Robin, a colleague of Steve Harrington. She's pretty alternative, and, bored with her job at an ice cream shop called Scoops Ahoi in Star Court mall, she joins in the clique around Eleven and Will.
