by Andreas Reissnauer (July 2004) Carcass are one of the inventors of Grindcore and developed their sound over the years to filigree Death Metal. No doubt, they have been masters of their genre as well as innovators who with their music and the image of medical students with a liking for pathology caused quite some stir. The development of the British can now be observed on this "Choice cuts" compilation. 13 songs from a total of 5 records may be a limited overview on the emergence and development of the band but then you also get 8 bonus tracks: previously unreleased versions of early Carcass-songs recorded in "Peel Sessions" in 1989 and 1990.
