But what kind of cute necklaces are there anyway?


The necklaces we wear as jewellery are called jewellery chains. These are often made of precious metal and are characterised by the fact that they consist of a series of interconnected chain links. Depending on where and how you wear your chain as an accessory, a distinction is made between different forms of jewellery chain. There are not only necklaces, but also arm chains, ankle chains, shoulder chains, belly chains and hip chains. There are also jewellery chains that are attached to clothing.


The wearing of chains and jewellery made of chains is very old and is already documented for cultures of human prehistory. Chains are mainly distinguished according to the shape of their links, i.e. how the chain was made.


And which jewellery chain shapes are there?


There are very many different forms of jewellery chain. The anchor chain is the basic jewellery piece par excellence. You're probably not even aware that you've seen or worn them before. Its basic shape is based on a ship's anchor chain, which also gave it its name. It is available as a double anchor chain or as a flat version.

It resembles the tracks of military tanks. With snake chains you have to look twice to recognise the individual chain links. It is made very compact, so the chain looks like it is made of a single piece of material.
