Punk rockers Boehse Onkelz, who founded their band in 1980, have served several styles in their musical history. In the beginning they were extremely enthusiastic about punk and the offshoot project Oi. Later the style of the Onkelz changed towards rock and German rock.
The pithy lyrics, all of which (with one exception) were written by Stephan Weidner, are particularly striking. The public accuses the Onkelz of the fact that many song words glorify violence and are right-wing extremists.
Fans, on the other hand, see an incredible variety and critical content. Because the Böhse Onkelz also sing our against many problems in society that are otherwise hushed up. There are songs about child abuse, a society that is too lazy to think for themselves - as well as songs that heavily criticise the media. Fans like this attitude, and the Böhsen Onkelz always seem authentic - you can notice that straight away on their CDs.
Not least because they themselves come from poor backgrounds and lay all of their problems bare in front of their fans. Scandals are simply part of the band's history and show the fans that the Onkelz are just human.
