Nirvana weren’t just the biggest grunge band of the 90s, they basically shaped the culture of Gen X. They were the sound. As a group, Nirvana came into the world of music as the pioneers of grunge. A figurehead for the counterculture, the group fronted by Kurt Cobain quickly caught on with music fans who wanted to stand for the opposite of their parents’ generations. They have every reason to be classed as one of the most influential bands of the 90s – and their impact is still felt across new artists to this day.

Albums like ‘Nevermind’, ‘Bleach’ and ‘In Utero’ are timeless classics that introduced new ways of blending rock and commercial sounds. After the suicide of lead singer Kurt Cobain, Nirvana became something… bigger. They meant more to people. Suddenly, the hard, aggressive world of rock understood what it meant to be fragile. Unearthing the power in pain, and the need to understand one another a little bit more. Cobain paid a price no one should pay, sadly following in the footsteps of the likes of The Doors’ Jim Morrison and Joy Division’s Ian Curtis.

A perfect way to transform any room and make your mark on the space, EMP offer a variety of Nirvana posters that will be right at home in yours. A Smiley poster will get the rock seal of approval from any true fan – or anyone who has any recollection of being around in the 90s. The Smiley was the emblem of the decade, an icon for the counterculture of grunge.
