Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London in 1965 by students Syd Barrett, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright. Waters and Barrett were childhood friends and Waters met Mason while studying architecture at the London Polytechnic on Regent Street.
Waters reportedly once wished he was John Lennon, but the Floyd never tried to be the Beatles or even sound like them. Nonetheless the ‘Fab Four’s’ influences are unavoidably spattered over much of the Floyd’s greatest works. Early influences are also thought to be the kinks and the rolling stones, a fact which is alluded to in the pink floyd book ‘The visual documentary’. Waters is also documented as being a big Neil Young fan.
In 1967, Pink Floyd began to attract the attention of the music industry and three days after an arranged recording session at Sound Techniques in West Hampstead, they signed with EMI. The deal earned them an advance of £5,000, which is the the equivalent of around £100k today. EMI released the band's first single, "Arnold Layne", with the B-side "Candy and a Currant Bun", on 10 March 1967. The Dark Side of the Moon album was released 6 years later in March 1973, and became an instant chart success in the UK and throughout Western Europe. Distinguished for their extended compositions, sonic experimentation, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows, the band never looked back.

World tour 1975 hoodie
The 1975 World Tour is probably better known as the ‘wish you were here’ tour amongst fans as it was designed to support the release of the then forthcoming Pink Floyd album ‘Wish You Were Here’. The last gig of the tour brought the band back to their English roots with a headline set at the 1975 Knebworth Festival. The set also featured the Steve Miller Band, Captain Beefheart and Roy Harper, and was also the last time the band would perform the entire Dark Side of the Moon album with Roger Waters. In order to pay the appropriate amount of respect to this incredible moment in music history, the world tour has been memorialised on a black mens hoodie. Printed on the front and back, this stylish garment is available in sizes up to XXL.
