Twenty One Pilots
Sorry, we couldn't find any matches for your search
This band doesn't fit into any category, and that's what makes the two musicians from Columbus, Ohio, so special. Rock, pop, hip-hop, electro, rap and lyrics that have it all: Twenty One Pilots offer all that and more.
The result? An incomparable and harmonious musical experience. The genre mix is unique and extraordinary. That is why the Twenty One Pilots CDs offer many pleasant surprises.
How did it all start?
It all started with a piano. The instrument, a present from his mother, piqued little Tyler Joseph's interest. While still in high school, the boy decided to compose his own songs and went looking for other musicians to join him on the stages of Columbus.
For his musical goals he even sacrificed his career as a basketball player, because from then on he wanted to do nothing more than create melodies. Young Tyler Joseph barricaded himself in his room and started creating wayward songs.
He used numerous different elements of pop music for this. In his works, among other things, pop, rock, hip-hop and electro merged into a symbiosis that had never been seen before.
Tyler had an urgent need to make the world happy with his homemade crossover. The first delicate stage attempts were rather slow, the audience showed too little enthusiasm. In 2009, Tyler Joseph hired drummer Chris Salih and bassist, pianist and backup singer Nick Thomas.
Then the music project took on concrete form. The band roamed the city's clubs and made a name for themselves through their live performances. After a short time the band was known all over Columbus.
When did it really start?
Since the project was not as successful as initially hoped, despite the increasing popularity, the three musicians separated after two years. But Tyler Joseph was still convinced of the quality of his music. When Tyler Joseph finally brought the "House of Heroes" drummer Josh Dun on board, things suddenly took off.
In the months that followed, the two musicians thrilled more and more fans in their hometown of Columbus with their unprecedented electro-pop crossover.
A breakthrough with “Vessel”
The music industry soon became aware of the duo. The Fueled By Ramen label got the contract and signed the musicians. In 2010 the band released "Three Songs". The band's big breakthrough came with the album "Vessel", about six months after the release of "Three Songs" in early 2003.
The electro-pop crossover dug its way deep into the listeners ear, as the subsequent album "Blurryface" in 2015 proved. The duo stormed the Swiss, German, British and Austrian charts. In the US album charts, the band reached first place with around 150,000 Twenty One Pilots CDs sold.
The song "Heathens", which was presented in 2016 and used in the film "Suicide Squad", was also very successful commercially. One of the greatest successes on the Twenty One Pilots albums is still the high-flyer song "Stressed Out", which received the 2017 Grammy Awards for the best pop performance by a two-music group.
Fan merch and albums in the Twenty One Pilots online shop
In addition to the Twenty One Pilots albums, the EMP online shop also has various merch from the US duo, for example clothing for men and women, accessories and jewelry. The striking logo of the group is characteristic of the Twenty One Pilots merchandise.
According to the two musicians, the logo simply means “Twenty One Pilots” - it symbolizes the desire of mankind to find meaning and purpose for everything possible. The logo has a very special meaning for Tyler Joseph and therefore also a purpose that is known only to him.
In addition to the band logo, there is also the so-called skeleton clique logo of the fans. It is composed of two abstract figures. Both figures each consist of a long line with three dashes in the middle.
The figure on the right is white and has a skeletal head, the figure on the left is red and with its large stylized eyes is reminiscent of an alien.
The duo's fans are known as the "Skeleton Clique". The range in the EMP online shop is adjusted from time to time so that new Twenty One Pilots merch is always on offer.
