He wanted to try things out and mix different genres of music together. The idea for Volbeat was born. So many inspirations had been sleeping within him, which were mainly shaped by the rock 'n' roll music that his parents had listened to.

Stylistically, the band just can't be classified and that's intentional. Poulsen never wanted to feel that the direction for the band was set after an album was released. Therefore, Volbeat fans can always look forward to interesting and unique creations.

Volbeats success began very quickly when they reached the semi-finals of the Danish music competition 'Live Contest'. A soundtrack for the Danish film 'Frost' followed a short time later. In 2006 Volbeat was awarded the Danish music prize for 'Live Band' and 'Hope of the Year'. The many tours and appearances contributed significantly to the band's success and ensured that they also received international attention.

Accompanied by AC / DC in 2010 and as the opening act for BIG FOUR, Volbeat traveled across Europe, from Turkey to Romania. Since the guys from Volbeat are big boxing fans, they composed the song 'A Warrior's Call'. This is the song that the boxer Mikkel Kessler opened his appearances at the Super Six Tournament with.
