Of clans and checked patterns

The checked shirt we know today has its origins in Scotland. In the 17th century, the Scottish clans used fabrics with a checked pattern for their traditional kilts. This gave rise, via a few detours, to today's checked shirt. However, this chic piece is not only reserved for Scots and cowboys. A checked shirt is a great way to express your casualness and is also absolutely suitable for everyday wear. Whether you're outdoorsy or looking for a classic for the office or leisure time, you'll be right on target with checked shirts for men!

Men's checked shirts usually have a wider cut. Currently, however, the trend is more towards slightly fitted and narrow cuts. The choice of colours leaves nothing to be desired. Whether your shirt should be red and checked or whether you wear a black checked shirt - with matching accessories your look will be a real eye-catcher! Another advantage is that you can choose from a wide range of sizes, some of which are even available for big boys up to size 5XL.

Buy your checked shirt for men who can tackle

A checked work shirt represents the rugged nature of the man. Tackle and finish is the motto - and the right shirt must therefore meet some requirements. If you work outside, you can wear a checked overshirt as protection against wind and weather. But a checked shirt also looks great in the office. The casual look is becoming more and more popular in the business environment these days, which is why you can even wear it to formal occasions.

What goes with a checked shirt?

Destroyed-look fashion and accessories go well with a checked shirt. A pair of shredded denim jeans will make your outfit look especially stylish and is an uncomplicated alternative to a plain shirt with jeans. When it comes to shoes, you can go for western boots, sporty sneakers or biker boots. Add a leather jacket and sunglasses for a rebellious look - this is a real eye-catcher, especially for your leisure activities! In winter, checked shirts are totally popular. The soft flannel fabric warms you from the harsh cold and feels good on the skin. Now jeans and a winter jacket come into their own. A lined trench coat goes particularly well here. For safe footwear on cold days, wear sturdy winter boots.

A red checked shirt by Urban Classics suits many occasions. Job, uni, outdoor or a night out with your mates - this classic men's shirt makes it easy for you to look well-dressed. The pleasantly soft flannel fabric is made of 100 percent cotton and hugs your skin. Two breast pockets add subtle accents. A shirt collar and cuffed sleeves round off the look. A checkered shirt from Brandit also underlines your masculinity and makes you look good on any occasion. But it's not just winter that is made for checked shirts. You don't have to do without your beloved check pattern in summer either. The solution is a checked shirt with short sleeves. Or you can roll up the sleeves casually. As you can see, there are no limits to your look.

How to wear a checked shirt?

You can wear your checked shirt open or closed. With a plain shirt underneath, it's no problem at all. Tuck the shirt into your trousers and roll up the sleeves for a particularly business-ready look. If you want your shirt to sit extra tight in your trousers, there's a good trick: attach braces to the hem of your shirt and the other end to your socks. This will make your shirt feel even tighter. By the way: shirts are always a welcome gift for your partner, brother, father or best friend. In the EMP online shop you'll find classic lumberjack shirts and short-sleeved shirts for men. Matching fashion such as shoes, T-shirts and caps are also available here in the shop. Have fun browsing!
