If you haven’t felt grateful for the NHS today, here’s your reminder.
Breaking Bad was arguably one of the biggest TV events in modern memory, and, we don't mean to sound like Obama, but it all boiled down to the failures of American healthcare.
The series follows Walter White, who’s just a normal guy – honest. If he hadn’t received a shock cancer diagnosis, everything would have gone quite differently for him. Walter is fifty years old, works as a chemistry teacher at a high school and lives with his pregnant wife Skyler and disabled son Walter Junior. It’s clear to Walter that his family will not be able to cope financially without him after his death.
In his desperation, he searches for an idea that will help him get very rich, very quick – because when has a get-rich-quick scheme ever gone wrong? As one does, he decides to make the most of his professional chemistry experience in the labs and becomes a meth dealing crime lord.
This is one teacher you would listen to. Walter White – the law-abiding teacher, husband and father – essentially died with that diagnosis. And 'Heisenberg' was born. Heisenberg is the moniker bad Walter adopts when he’s 'Breaking Bad' and doing his bad deeds, accompanied by the lovable miscreant, Jesse Pinkman – ex-student, current drug runner.
As the show unfolded, a modern masterpiece in storytelling gripped fans across the globe, lured in by a story of desperation, morality and perpetual grey areas.
