So what exactly is Rick and Morty all about? Rick Sanchez, a kindly but alcoholic and constantly-burping scientist lives with his daughter Beth, her husband Jerry and their children Summer and Morty.

Rick has a garage full of stuff that he uses to create crazy inventions like bombs or little robots, and to travel through space and time. He regularly takes his grandson Morty along on exciting and even dangerous adventures into strange worlds and completely different dimensions.

Visually, the series is very similar to Futurama. There’s also a nod in the direction of ‘Back to the Future’ with Doc Emmet Brown and Marty McFly. No episode misses the chance to spoof a famous film or series.

Fun fact

In the third season, Rick declares his love of McDonalds’ McNugget Szechuan sauce, which was removed from the menu in 1998. Around 30,000 people have already signed a petition to reintroduce the sauce – and McDonald’s is seriously considering doing so.
