by Oliver Kube (27.02.2008) The 2004-album, "Youth" wasn't bad really. On the contrary: the sixth album of the Alternative-Rocker around band leader, Ed Roland was really good. The only disturbing fact for the fans, though: they couldn't recognize their 90s darlings anymore suddenly dealing with high tech- and studio gimmicks. Such things don't happen on "Afterwords". With "New vibration", Collective Soul let it rock in best Post-Grunge manner – a loud, wild song that could have been on their great debut album, "Hints, allegations and things left unsaid", too. And it goes on like that with similarly edgy and catchy tracks in big sounds that never appear overloaded. Would we still be in the first half of the last century, the melancholic "Bearing witness", the happy mood-song, "Hollywood", and "I don't need anymore friends" (the first band-track that is not sung by Roland but by lead-guitarist, Joel Kosche instead) would surely be top candidates for the upper chart regions.
