13.The firewind documentary (2005 / 2006)
by Lothar Landt (11.07.2006) The opening title track kicks of splendidly with a razor sharp riff. In the first moment, singer Apollo Papathanasio reminds me of ex-Black Sabbath singer, Tony Martin, which I consider a compliment. Already here, the real strengths of the quintet show off. Their melodic metal is provided by some slight progressive elements and great guitar solos. Melody and heaviness are delivered in equal portions. Gus G. rocks unbelievably in “Insanity“, while “Falling to pieces“ already thrills with its cool guitar intro - the ideal start for the enchanting mid-tempo banger. The following “Ready to strike“ increases the pace again, “Breaking the silence“ reveals a completely different character featuring the female guest voice of Tara thrillingly adding to a perfect duet. Having said that, the highlight is the epic “Deliverance“. Songwriting and production are excellent, so that „Allegiance“ is definitely one of the highlights of the year, 2006.
