by Lisa Hofer (10.01.2007) The Angra singer got himself a handful of prominent support to stir some attention with his debut album "Almah". On board are no less than Casey Grillo (drummer of Kamelot), Emppu Vuorinen (guitarist in Nightwish) and Lauri Porra (bass player in Stratovarius). In every riff it becomes clear that all of the guys are true professionals, precision and technique leave nothing to be desired. Still, the eleven tracks on the album were all written by Edu, nicely settling in progressive, and yet, melodic Heavy Metal. Songs like "Children of Lies", "Golden Empire", and the title track "Almah" are a fine mixture of catchiness, creativity and power carrying the unique signature of the Brazilians. And of course, Edu refines his first solo effort with his unmistakable voice. The limited edition is being released as an expensive digi pack with some worthy bonus tracks.
