by Benedikt Niederschmid (05.10.2006) While Killswitch Engage so far have only be seen as part of the overfull Metalcore pot, this changes with the new album "As daylight dies". This is more Metal than Core, again produced by guitarist and producer Adam Dutkewicz in a phat and very transparent sound - the new material crushes everything that comes in its way. Creativity process, recordings and mixes took only three months, which may be a reason for the fact that the album sounds very much like one unit. Thumbs up is my first, reflex reaction. Little by little, there is another thought creeping through: there is little that remains sticking in your head here. Despite the almost progressive change of times, despite the good and powerful riffs delivered by the dozen on "As daylight dies", and despite Howard Jones again proving the quality of his unique voice, I have to state that the real smash hit is lacking. Maybe, I just need some more listening sessionsβ¦
