by Matthias Mineur (04/02) We waited in anticipation if Die Happy could repeat the brilliant impression of their debut. "Supersonic speed" had everything that a modern album needed: Power, sharpness, speed and with the title-track also a real earwig. If there is anything comparable to the single, "Supersonic speed", also on the new album can't be said at this time. But as a matter of fact, the band around singer Martha Jandov has creatively matured instead of copying themselves. In a holiday camp in Denmark, reorganised into a rehearsal room, they wrote a good dozen of new songs that gives you the whole range from metallic to poppy. Skilfully, Die Happy combine straight guitar riffs with modern sounds, catchy vocal lines with groovy rhythms, great lyrics with fine melodies. With this variety of ideas, it wasn't difficult to chose a single: "Goodbye" is different from "Supersonic speed" but still typically Die Happy. Is there a better compliment?
