by Björn Girod (02.01.2008) With their second official album, the four Austrians show that Metalcore has found its safe way into the Alps, too. For three demos in the 90s and one album in 2004, Boon had rather rocked in Death Metal vein, now the four Metalheads have changed for a rather experimental, straight mixture of Metal, Rock and Hardcore. On their new album, the combo formed in 1998 heavily kicks off from the first chord on and with their often very cool guitar riffs and weird, disharmonic melody lines and time changes, they remind me of Soulfly and Machine Head. Guitarist and singer, Wolfgang Pendl shows that he can not only scream but also sing beautiful melodies, too. Unfortunately, the album as a whole is not very variable, on the other hand, it features highlights, such as, e.g. "G.R.E.Y.", or the opener "Disgrace". An album to let it rock!
