by Manuela Liefländer (July 2004) You don't have to exaggerate to claim that Static-X are absolute an uniqueness in the metal genre. The Industrial metallers who call their own style "Evil Disco" don't care about trends or seem to be bending for the sake of commerce. On the contrary, it's the fun that counts. Newcomers and fans can check that with the 16 new tracks for this new album is a perfect insight into the inner of the institution Static-X. The grooving opener, "Breath" comes from the sessions of the last album, "Shadow Zone", "Anything But This" was composed during the Machine-recordings and was released on the 'Resident Evil'-soundtrack, and "So Real" is one of the leftovers of "Wisconsin Death Trip", the debut album of the Americans. But not enough of that, Static-X additionally added their self-produced demos on this album. And the rest of their ideals are presented in the cover versions of "Burning Inside" of Ministry and "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" by the Ramones. Very recommendable. (Manuela Liefländer - July 2004)
