Completely unexpectedly for the fans, Metallica sweetened the waiting time until the next Album with the 'Beyond Magnetic' EP. The mini-Album contains four songs that were actually recorded for the previous studio Album 'Death Magnetic', but did not make it onto the record. The four songs are simply typical Metallica and feel like the missing puzzle piece between the classic Albums like 'Master of Puppets' and the newer sound of 'Death Magnetic'.

The four songs created during the „Death magnetic“ sessions have been released on diverse download platforms already and weren't meant for a CD originally. But the fans had their say, and so the tracks made it on a CD after all. You'll get four unmastered (!!!) songs on a CD. But what to expect? Sub-standard stuff? No, sir! Some of the „Death magnetic“ material sounded more like old gems anyway (much more than on „St. Anger“, for example), and the "Beyond..." songs are even a tad more old-school which is certainly also due to the sound. Check out „Hate train“ and „Just a bullet away“ - they will whet your appetite for more. But you'll enjoy „Hell and back“ and „Rebel of Babylon“, too, although you'll detect some fresher influences there. In a nutshell: a great gift and a #1 choice for all you Metallica maniacs out there!
