"Blackwater park" CD by Opeth

"Blackwater park" is the right entrance to the new Millenium and all fans of the band as well as people with open ears for Anathema, Katatonia up to Tool, should offer some moments of their time. Already the first songs, "The lepger infinity" is a little revelation. Which band can afford to begin with ten minutes of quality, expression and intensity. Hard and pushing this track is haunting you and reveals from the first second on: Opeth are still a Metal band and nobody has to be afraid that this could change in the near future. Sure, the riffs and the general sound is more modern and the basic structures are easily accessible. But you can't get away from this song. The middle part reveals the greatness of this band in the quieter moments before the song returns to the heaviness and makes it full circle. And the boys are spinning this common thread of the first song throughout the whole of the album over more than one hour. And when already the first song get such a extensive review, you will probably guess what I mean, won't you? "Blackwater park", for me, is the best I have ever heard of Opeth.
