by Jürgen Tschamler (15.05.2009) Tardy? Tardy? Ah, yes, Obituary. The Tardy brothers John and Donald present us with "Bloodline", a well-done, old-school, mid-tempo Death Metal opus totally different from all Obituary material. If there are some slight parallels, they're just due to John's voice. The boys are really strutting their stuff with four axe men, among them Ralph Santolla (Obituary, ex-Death, Deicide), and original Executioner guitarero Jerry Tidwell. Tom Morris produced the album - it has a relatively warm sound which takes away a bit of the brutality and makes for a very old-school feel. The band shuns the usual clichés and sticks to the Death Metal book rules of the 90s, that is: less speed, more hefty mid-tempo riffs sailing near the Thrash coast, and some nasty vocals not comparable to other average grunts'n'growls of the trade.
