by Patrick Schmidt (null) Slowly but surely those cannibals scare me. By now, technically the quintet reached such a high level that some other quite rough and heavy combos seem to be way behind. Cannibal Corpse's art doesn't lay in the demonstration of technical skills, but in the combination of musical demands and brutality - this undertaking has its peak on "Bloodthirst". It begins with the mercyless, just really heavy Colin Richardson production (e.g. Machine Head and Napalm Death) that perfectly illuminates every instrument - a good test for everybody's equipment. The guys sound even more heavy, but less dainty than on the previous album "Gallery of suicide". Reason for that might be the complete integration of new entry Pat O'Brien (ex-Nevermore). "Dead human collection" or "Coffinfeeder" could be guidelines for brutal Death Metal - fast, aggressive as hell and extremely tight recordings. Damn cool album!
