Edguy are THE German Metal newcomers. Their current studio album, "Mandrake" sold like hot coffee, the European tour last year turned out to be a triumphal procession. With "Burning Down The Opera", singer Tobias Sammet and his fellows now release a document of this concert journey that predominantly took place in packed clubs and received frenetic audience reactions especially in Paris (Elysée Montmartre) and Lyon (Le Transpordeur). So it's no wonder that Edguy chose especially those two shows for the basis of their first live-double album. "Burning Down The Opera" is like a best of-Edguy with all important songs of their records so far. Of course, "Vain Glory Opera" is not missing, niether are "How Many Miles", "Wings Of A Dream" or the fabulous "The Pharaoh". Special bonus is the song "Avantasia" from the Metal opera of the same name. What else could you be wishing for? (Matthias Mineur - 04/03)
