by Christian Bezdekovsky (05/02) The basic idea of this Split-album was that each band covers 6 classics of the other band - an undertaking that considering the two names should have become one of the Punkrock highlights of the year ... right: should have, because while the NOFX-versions of "Olympia WA" or also "Tenderloin" are quite respectable, the 6 songs of Rancid are frightening weak! Their version of "Moron brothers" is much too clipped and overhasty, and also the other NOFX-classics, like "Bob", "The brews" or "Don't call me white" seem overtaxed for the Streetpunx. The voice of Tim Armstrong, that always seemed as if he suffered of cancer of the throat is not really contributing to the quality of the songs. Alone bassist Matt Freeman can convince. So, in direct comparison, NOFX did a better job. They succeed in adding their own flavour to the old Rancid-songs, the rest is a waste of time.
