Allstar projects are by no means a warrantor of great music. Nevertheless, the comeback of drum god Richard Christy and Tim "Ripper" Owens outshines their shared Iced Earth times. A melodic Heavy Metal showbag - a class of its own.

by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (27.01.2010) Instead of concentrating on his second album with Beyond Fear, Tim "Ripper" Owens prefers the support of well-known, seasoned musicians. His solo all-star album was pretty mediocre, so maybe it's really better to cooperate with some household names. Richard Christy (ex-Death, ex-Iced Earth) the drum prodigy has started this red-hot project with the long, long name together with Steve DiGiorgio (bass) and Jason Suecof as guitarist-cum-producer. Don't get irritated by the few hefty blast beat seconds (among others, on "Ghost town"), though: the blokes know what the Ripper needs. He isn't forced to scream all along, he can be a wonderful siren and dwell on his vibrato - we haven't heard such great harmonies by him for a long time. Rob Halford has bored us with Christmas songs - the Ripper outdoes him easily with this demonstration of a versatility consisting of true traditional Metal (albeit spiced with a modern sound a dash of progressive stuff). Wow.
