by Markus Eck (22.02.2010) If you own their last (and first) album "The invocation of demise", you certainly have a highlight of Swedish Black Metal in your collection. And now, you have yet another one coming: "Contamination", Valkyria's secound output, is even better! Although the line up has undergone some changes, the resipe is still the same: brutal riffing, icy, atmospheric melodies, a pumping bass, and fat drums are the basics, topped off with dark and demonic vocals - mighty impressive stuff. Apart from the awesome guitar wizardry, the brutal and versatile drumming of J. Wallgren impresses me extremely: the man is wielding his sticks masterly, delivering breathtaking breaks, adding overwhelming clout to it all. In case you prefer epic parts: rejoice, you'll also get your fair share.
