by Andreas Reissnauer (10/00) Vintersorg is the solo-project of Vintersorg, known to many as the musician of Otyg and Havayoth. With "Cosmic genesis" the go-getting Swede releases his third record in three years and surprisingly he cannot only keep the high quality-level but also excel it. On "Cosmic genesis", again, Metal and Folk go hand in hand, the heaviness has even risen decently and so the album offers a catchy melange of both styles. The folky melodies were woven into cool riffs, the refrains sound more matured and catchier than in the past and also the rhythms section pumps to the point. The vocals by Vintersorg himself are great as ever; he has this voice that you recognise from a hundreds. I had really thought that with "Ödemarkens son", the Swede had reached the zenith of his abilities but obviously I was wrong. "Cosmic genesis" presents an extraordinary composer, musician and singer who has placed himself comfortably in the top range of the Metal scene.
