What a killer that the Dutch No Turning Back delivered here! The Wide Awake- and Death Threat-T-shirts the relatively young musicians carry speak for themselves. "Damage done" was produced by Tue Masden who presented his reference album in brutal hardcore with the Born from Pain release. No Turning Back can also be filed under Hardcore of the New Yorker school but the song writing quality pleasantly lifts far from the masses. Instead of wild riffing combined with death metal grunts tracks, like "Take control" or "Never give up" rather convince with controlled heaviness. Despite that, No Turning Back have two asses in their hands: for one the surprisingly balanced (but hey: not wimpy!) vocals (that sometimes remind me of Cro-Mags), for the other the absolutely brilliant riffing that (almost) reminds me of the immortal riff-gods of the N.Y.C.H.C.-movement, namely Leeway. Beyond any doubt, "Damage done" is one of the most souvereign, most original and best hardcore records of the past 12 months! (Matthias Mader - July 2004)
