by Markus Wosgien (31.03.2006) Gorillia Monsoon build the perfect bridge between traditional doom and stoner rock. It's really smart how the Germans groove through the ten tracks of their debut album easily. Frontman Jack Sabbath does not only have a cool pseudonym but also represents the perfect rock star. In the dirty sound you have about everything that is lush and still rocks. Like a chameleon, Jack Sabbath winds through the single tracks and burns one fireworks after the other. My imagination is this: the speakers are completely pumped up, they jam like under drugs and create a psychedelic masterpiece that settles somewhere between Kyuss, the early Black Sabbath and later Metallica. This is a bunch of geniuses who may not even know their class. “Damage king“ is definitely a great masterpiece far off any trends and commercial thoughts. This is ass-kicking Rock'n'Roll that still smiles.
