by Andreas Reissnauer (October 2005) Siebenbürgen don't come from Romania but from Sweden. Apart of this side note, the band doesn't make it easy for the listener, the fan and the reviewer. Every few years, they release a new album and in between you hear nothing from the band. No idea if that derives from the fact that the line-up has changed so massively again. Take it as it is and have a look at the fifth album of the Scandinavians. Musically, not much has changed since the predecessor, "Plagued be thy angel". Riff-orientated Metal with great melodies, rough vocals and some casual colourful spots by female vocals dominate the general picture. No connection to the Black Metal of the early days any more, only the vocals sometimes tend towards that direction sometimes. The rest is dominated by melodious guitar lines and clean midtempo. The Folk kind of melodies may still be there but only in subversive form in the guitars. Yes, it is true that "Darker designs & images" is the most matured and best album in the history of Siebenbürgen. All thumbs up!(Andreas Reissnauer - October 2005)
by Andreas Reissnauer (July 2005) Siebenbürgen don't come from Rumania but from Sweden. Apart from this side note, the band doesn't make it easy for the listener, fan and journalist. Every few years, they release a new album and in between, all remains silent around the band. I have no idea why the line-up was again refurnished so I can only take as it is. Musically, the fifth album by the Scandinavians has not massively changed in style compared to the predecessor, "Plagued be thy angel". Riff orientated Metal with great melodies, rough vocals and occasional colourful dots by female vocals is what dominated the picture. Meanwhile, they have completely left their Black Metal roots behind, only thevocals sometimes tend in that direction. But the rest is melodic guitars and clean mid-tempo. The folk melodies are still there in the melodies, yet only subliminal in the guitars. It's quite right that "Darker designs & images" is the most matured and technically most perfect album in the history of Siebenbürgen. Thumbs up! (Andreas Reissnauer - July 2005)
