by Andreas Reissnauer (04.07.2007) You just have to be at the right place at the right time. Before The Dawn obviously haven't been over the last three albums. In order to change that, they set all sails to storm now because "Deadlight" is not only the best album of the Finns ever, it could also got some first, euphoric reactions. The first single, "Deadsong" charted on No. 2 in Finland and the album sells like hot cakes. To be expecting similar success in the rest of Europe, too, would be too much to ask but Before The Dawn should at least hit the public taste of the Metal-fans. Because whoever manages to uniquely combine Katatonia and early Paradise Lost on the one side and Mercenary and Evergrey on the other should have a fair harvest. The structures of the songs are high-class, the melodies are emotional and fresh and the songs permanently have a pleasant heaviness. A huge surprise!
