by Markus Wosgien (05.10.2006) The Berlin duo dared an enormous new challenge and on two CDs they created a black, romantic sing play, dealing with the whole life of the legend Elisabeth Bathory. A concept album with musical character that hasn't been there before in this form. From the first second on you are caught and are magically lead into the past reliving this mysterious chapter in history. The saga says that around 1600, the Blood Countess killed about 600 girls and took a bath in their blood in order to gain beauty and youth. Both the musical and lyrical side of the album is terrific and deserves highest respect. With this album, Untoten created an immortal monument and wrote musical history. The theme seems perfect for them and only transformed into the classically Gothic Untoten style this spectacle gains in such impressive effect. Even the booklet artwork is great. All one could additionally wish for is a performance of this fascinating masterpiece.
