by Markus Wosgien (29.10.2008) As we all know, the devil is in the details... So thought Skinny Puppy front man Kevin Ogilvie, also known as Nivek Ogre, when he started to work on his third solo album. It is a very intimate opus, revealing many personal details regarding Ogre. But it also is a multi-faceted, and - you could expect that, too - chunky, sick thing, sometimes demanding strong nerves from the listener. Let’s assume Einstein had tried to transfer his theory of relativity into music: maybe it would have sounded like this. Apart from this, "Devils in my details" is a successful attempt to make a modern Industrial album - and let it sound as old and minimalist as possible. Ogre (who is influenced by many of his youth idols and the sounds of various video games) is supported by Bill Moseley (better known as Chop Top in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2") at the rap front. Single tracks like "Pepper", "Psychoreal" and "D.Angel" are surprisingly catchy - otherwise, organised musical chaos rules.
