13.The Liminal Passage
by Adam Weishaupt (02.03.2010) The Swiss hobgoblins are back on the Metal track. After their successful acoustical folk experiment "Evokation I: The arcane dominion", the Eluveitie blokes plug in again. The awesome intro "Otherworld" gets you in that Celtic mood (think Braveheart here), followed by veritable neck wreckers like the title track "Everything remains", or the anthemic, atmospheric "Thousandfold". These days, Eluveitie sound like a seasoned and well-oiled band, supported by a crystal-clear dynamic sound - hats off to Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, and many more) who created the brutal mix, and John Davis (U2, Led Zeppelin etc.) who did the final mastering. Richardson, Davis - great names for this more and more popular band which has won a huge fan community by always playing their asses off... With this album, they put all their eggs in one basket - and it has paid off: this is a collection of excellent, multi-faceted compositions. They have done it again - great stuff!
