by Markus Eck (20.04.2009) In these days, such an impressive soundscape, delivered by the Finnish specialists for intense atmospheres, will rarely be heard - even in the Melodic Power Metal genre. This is Winterborn's second studio album, and singer Teemu Koskela and his crew have a lot of progressive compositions - and a lot of musical clout up their sleeves. "Farewell to saints" was released in Japan for the Japanese market at the end of last year - now we Europeans can enjoy its unique elegance, too. Again and again, the Scandinavian sextet manages to mix all the important Metal ingredients like suspense, emotion, surprise, aesthetics, and also toughness in a very personal way. And Koskela's distinctive, charismatical voice is a remarkable asset, too - it'll leave its mark on you, and you won't forget it.
