by Marcel Anders (13.04.2007) Ten records in 20 years - that proves staying power and constancy. Which can be said about the music of mastermind, Steven Wilson, too. On his new output, the pale Englishman again offers demanding, modern Progressive Rock with a filigree instrumentation that slowly builds up culminating in mad, orchestral pathos. Despite the similar title, the six songs have, of course, nothing to do with the 90s-milestone of Public Enemy. Wilson's compositions change between flowery Psychedelics, powerful Metal and fragile Folk - and last, like in the epic "Anesthetize" - up to 18 minutes. Of course, divided into two suits leading the listener into mystical soundscapes. There are only two problems: Wilson turns out to be a quite polite singer and over the time of 50 minutes, the album is quite uniform and tiring. That couldn't be changed by guest appearances of Robert Fripp and Alex Lifeson (Rush), either. Another solid Procupine Tree-album. No more - but no less, either.
