by Markus Eck (14.07.2008) Edmonton, Kentucky - the hometown of Chris Robertson (vocals & guitar), Ben Wells (guitar), Jon Lawhon (bass) and John Fred Young (drums). These four boys have a) a penchant for the local distilleries, and b) an immense musical talent. Which the four-piece uses very aptly on their second album "Folklore and superstition" meaty, hefty hard Rock leaning heavily towards Southern Rock and moving Blues tunes. The four have definitely imbibed the spirit of good ol’ Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd with their mother’s milk already. And Robertson’s voice is a godsend - this totally intuitive artist brings their compositions to real life, with a captivating roughness and timeless charm. Black Stone Cherry are a class act - they can even pull off fragile, beautiful ballads as if they had never done anything else before.
