by Matthias Mader (10.01.2007) When Total Chaos formed in Pomona Valley in California 17 years ago, Punk was nothing but a frowned upon swearword - at least in terms of mainstream. Their debut album "We're the Punks" confronted the American public with dirty Punk Rock from the gutter for the first time. Now, the heirs of the Exploited are back with a new album: in songs like "Civil war" or "Paix America", Total Chaos still cherish the political approach that has always accompanied them. Also musically they haven't moved an inch from their original style. "Freedom kills" is all you could wish for, Wattie's throne built with "Beat the bastards" is dangerously unhinged (but after all doesn't fall). If the infantile cover version of Twisted Sisters' "We're not gonna take it" will heighten the street credibility could be a matter of discussion in the future. But that would be my only criticism, for the rest: thumbs up!
