11.Get ready
by Oliver Kube (24.07.2009) Ahh... This is timeless, classy top-notch Hardrock sound, supported by good and confident song writing. Well done, but to be honest, no big surprise - I expected nothing less than that from Oliver Weers' solo debut (his main job: front man of Danish rocksters Ripe). After all, "Get ready" was recorded in the legendary Medley studios in Kopenhagen - here's a short list of other artists who had also rang the Medley's bell: Scandinavian genre greats D.A.D. or Mike Tramp, international superstars Radiohead and Prince... Plus, Oliver's supporting crew consists of cracks like bass player Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), drum god Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy Osbourne, Pat Travers), and axe man Søren Andersen who recently was hired by Glenn Hughes. Smashers à la "Hands high" (which is heavily inspired by Whitesnake), or "First day of our lives" (think of early Ozzy solo stuff here) take turns with epic ballads like "Will you be mine" and will leave any given 80s Hardrock aficionado in ecstasy - and that goes for the exciting cover version of Björk's "Army of me", too.
