Excellent Service

It was still under the name The Scam that the band around frontman Sully Erna, ex drummer of Tharsher Meliah Rage, played covers of Alice in Chains. Already in 1998, the self-titled debut of Godsmack had its personal style composed of alternative Rock and Metal with many riffs.

by Jürgen Tschamler (07/99) Hm, one of those uncomfortable albums you just can't categorize on the instant. The band from Boston relies on consequently heavy beats, crunchy rhythms and phat guitars. Groove metal? Possible. Ex-Strip Mind drummer Sully Erna stands behind the Godsmack mic and reveales a really golden voice. Ex-Lillian Axe drummer Tommy Stewart provides the power from the background. The songs are totally efficient, meaning that they crack your skull, flush your mind down the drain and take it's place! The guys do not do anything special but what they do is full of power, groove and lots of intensity.
