Ok, after Pothead have split from the record industry last year (their c.d.s are exclusively distributed over the internet via www.pothead.de as well as some few chosen stores) and with "Burning bridges" their first album on their own label Janitor Records was released, "Grassroots" is their new and 8th album meanwhile in their ten-years of history. Again, Pothead show how rock songs have to sound, 19 songs long, clocking in at 70 minutes. The songs are sensitive and quiet ("Rose garden", "Festung") on the one hand, but of course, we also get those straight rockers blowing you against the wall ("Rock the border", "Dope says nope", "Let's complete"). Typical Pothead-hits ("Satisfied") with catchy hooklines are included as well. Produced and recorded by the band themselves in the Big Berries Studio in Berlin. For me, "Grassroots" is the best and most mature album of Pothead so far. Rock On !!! (Christian Albers - 08/01)
