10.131Sacred Steel
by Markus Wosgien (04.10.2006) The Southern German steel fabric has lightened the melting furnace again and forged eleven new bars. "Hammer of destruction" is purest Heavy Metal and shows Sacred Steel stronger then ever. With the two new members Jonas Khalil (guitar) and Kai Schindelar (bass) on board they are on a crusade again and blast everything down that isn't true enough. The fresh wind is great, you get blasts and noises in every corner and singer Gerrit Mutz maltreats his vocal chords to the limits. In terms of heaviness and speed, "Hammer of destruction" is another progression with double bass attacks and some great riff blasts that push you against the wall. "Maniacs of speed" speaks for itself and really kicks off, followed by the extremely heavy "Blood and thunder" and the great Maiden-inspired "Impaled by metal". Welcome back to the 80s! Their liking for Mercyful Fate can be heard in the diabolic "Black church", convincing with its unchristian, epic middle part. "Hammer of destruction" is merciless and despiteous, just like true Heavy Metal has to be.
