11.And The Valkyries Ride
by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (13.02.2008) Not only because of their geographical basis, the Northern Germans have better cards than Rebellion to embody their powerful, fast Metal with Nordish lyrical background. They don't care for Pagan Metal cliches but rather make proudly clear how much they have been inspired by the early works of Helloween/Kai Hansen: song arrangements, solo battles, the slightly rough vocals, the placements of bridges and singalong refrains. Even the distinctive bass follows the pumpkin tradition. Corresponding to the topic, some Nordish hero-choirs aren't missing ("Metal legacy"). Stormwarrior have enough wind in their sails to ram and drown the complete bubble-Metal-armada like an icebreaker in homicidal mania. Musical jokes, like Iron Fire should be fainting for such a spirit. That at least parts of the band love the epic Bathory-records, too, can be seen in the soundtrack elements, such as horse stampede, and the melancholic "The revenge of asa lande". "The holy cross", the epic successor to "Lindisfarne", at least in the spoken middle part, reminds me of Ancient Rites.
