13.The voyage (Instrumental shredfest)
by Jürgen Tschamler (12.07.2007) Already the opening riff of the opener, "Asylum god" and the following doublebass-killer let you get up in seconds. The ex-Manowar guitarist has learned from his mistakes! Oomph, it goes on like that with every new hit – pure, original, noisy Metal. Reduced to the essential, the album convinces with a phat, punishing wall of guitars and tons of banger-compatible riffs. If the cover wouldn't say Dave Shankle Group, I would have guessed that this is a new, talented US-Power Metal-troop with a very efficient performance. The high pace is kept all the way through, aggressive but harmonic vocals, and riffs that crack nuts. None of the 13 tracks show any weakness - True Metal-fans will get permanent highs, respectively wet pants. The title track, e.g. has an extreme killer riff, while "Tyrant" finally kills your neck muscles. Hard to believe that these are the same guys of the boring debut. "Hellborn" is an absolutely convincing True Metal killer that should leave no fan of this genre dissatisfied. Respect!
