by Markus Eck (09/03) The unholy saga continues with Morbid Angel's 8th album "Heretic". Mr. Sandoval, Tucker and Azagthoth show their broadest work yet. Consistently, the trio from Tampa, Florida provide us with a multi-dimensional Death Metal release - an instrumental orgy! An EXCEPTIONAL instrumental orgy in connection with stoking Killer vocals. The competent guitar masterpieces one encounters on "Heretic" are not your everyday Morbid Angel experience. Same goes for Sandoval's druming. He even has his solo moments on the new album. But that is only one of countless surprises: e.g. "Victorious march of rain the conqueror" would have been extremely suitable for the "Conan" OST. Another milestone of the genre proving the exceptional qualities of this band.
