Parkway Drive control the Metalcore-schoolbook: super tight riffs, a drummer who plays exact, Death Metal-like vocal growls, and an always fine tuned rhythm alternating.

by Matthias Mader (26.09.2007) Parkway Drive "easily transcend cliche-loaded categories, like Metalcore" claims their label, Epitaph (yes, indeed: Epitaph). Well, I can't quite agree, the exact opposite is the case: the young Australians know the Metalcore book by heart. On their second album, Parkway Drive prove to be absolute masters of their genre and easily present all trademarks of the genre: super tight riffing, a drummer that is exact like a drum machine (like once Dave Lombardo at his best), Death Metal-like vocals, and perfectly incorporated rhythm changes. Songs, like "Feed them to the pigs", "Dead man's chest" and "Frostbite" easily equal he level of bands, like Shadows Fall, As I Lay Dying, Heaven Shall Burn and Hatebreed. The production was provided by Adam Dutkiewicz from Killswitch Engage, who of course knows how to adequately present this kind of music.
